One Bad Boy Wins The 160th Queen’s Plate
One Bad Boy is no one’s playmate. The king of the races cemented his name into the pages of horseracing history when he recently kicked dust in the faces of his opponents in the annual Queen’s Plate event at Woodbine. He was awarded top honours and prize money totalling a fantastic CA$1 million for his valiant efforts.
This year’s event was tremendously special because it was the 160th Queen’s Plate. It’s a momentous affair and attended by the who’s who of the celebrity horseracing industry. It also happens to be the longest-running race in North American history.
All Hail One Bad Boy
The Queen’s Plate victory was One Bad Boy’s very first win outside of California, making the event all the more special for the horse and jockey Flavian Prat. One Bad Boy had been the favourite to win the race right from the start, and the 3-year old Thoroughbred most definitely did not disappoint his many fans.
One Bad Boy outran and outsmarted a band of 13 other hopefuls, covering the span of the entire course in a stellar time of 2:02.98. The champion horse has made another special achievement a reality for his champion jockey. Thanks to their stunning team effort, Flavian Prat is now the official holder of a Queen’s Plate victory as well as a Kentucky Derby win. This is a special feat indeed, as the last time anyone had managed to pull of this particular brand of horseracing magic was back in 1998.
Number 2 And 3
A potentially promising road lies ahead for One Bad Boy and his pro-rider. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission has announced that it will this year make available a special bonus award. Bonus prize money totalling an additional CA$500,000 will be handed to the horse who makes his way all the way to the winning line in all three Triple Crown events.
The second of the trio will be going down on July 23rd and One Bad Boy will be there to try and stake his claim to make it a 2 out of 3. The Prince of Wales race is a CA$400,000 stakes race and will be battled out at the iconic Fort Erie Racetrack.
Woodbine Racetrack will be the final stop with the third of the three big ones being run on August 17. One Bad Boy will hopefully be good and able to try his luck in the CA$400,000 Breeder’s Stake too.
