Wayne Gretzky Named BetMGM Brand Ambassador
National Hockey League icon Wayne Gretzky says he’s always loved his relationship with the MGM brand. And that his journey with the brand makes of it an absolute delight to be joining the BetMGM team as official brand ambassador.
Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky announced the big news on Twitter on Wednesday – after having inked a multi-year brand ambassador deal with the sportsbook giant. MGM, too, had a news release of its own announcing the exciting new association, while adding that Gretsky will boost the iGaming and sports betting giant’s marketing endeavours across the North American continent.
Gretzky on Wednesday commended MGM on being a company at the very forefront of the many changes currently taking place in the sports business, adding that the New Jersey-based sports wagering titan has built a terrific brand.
Telling The BetMGM Story
BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost expressed pride in having the NHL legend on board via a confirmatory press release, adding that Gretzky brought to the brand a “unique” way of telling its own story. Having Gretzky alongside the BetMGM brand while poised at the very crossroads of entertainment and sports fits the former NHL player’s new position in a perfect way, commented Prevost.
The press release also touched on the current excitement in lieu of the potential passing of a new bill that will legalise single-event sports betting in Canada. Bill C-218 on May 26 officially passed its second reading before Senate and is next headed to be tabled before the Senate Committee on Banking, Trade, and Commerce.
While betting on sports in Canada is currently limited to parlay bets involving three or more events only, Bill C-218 proposes to blow open the field in such a way that operators will hopefully soon be able to accept bets on single sports-event offerings.
A New Day Beckons
Gretzky on Wednesday expressed his own personal excitement about being poised to help tell the BetMGM story across what could potentially soon be new “states and territories”.
All of this is of course happening against the backdrop of the BetMGM brand waiting in anticipation for sports betting to be completely legalised on a much broader scale in Canada.
Not only is the brand ready and waiting to serve a fully regulated sports betting sector across North America, but it also recently made its debut gambit into horse racing when it signed a massive new deal with NYRA Bets, LLC, which is the online betting platform of the New York Racing Association.
