Vancouver Ranked Number 5 Top Sports City

Vancouver is a city among cities; this we’ve always known. But according to an index that was compiled by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA), not only is Vancouver a top tourist destination and a firm favourite in terms of living arrangements, but it also takes the number 5 spot on the list for best sports cities in the country. The index was compiled by the gathering of data based on all major sports events hosted during the course of 2018, as well as looking ahead to the schedule for 2019.

Montreal claimed Canada’s top spot for number one host city for major sports events. Short on its heels in second place ranked Quebec City, followed by the city of Edmonton in third place. Toronto claimed the number 4 spot, and Vancouver placed in fifth position.

Valuable Insight Thanks To Data

Canada is a top host for international sports events. By compiling an index that details every city’s achievements as far as hosting international events are concerned, the CSTA has said that it hopes to incentivise more Canadian cities to do the same. According to Krzysztof Kropielnicki, Head of Events at Sportcal, the practice of meticulous data collection provides meaningful and accurate insight into what exactly constitutes the building blocks of Canada’s many successes as a world-renowned host nation.

The only way to really pinpoint any statistic is by means of a process of data aggregation. And what’s more, cities would do well if they were to celebrate their achievements and make an event of it all. Celebrating regional and even national achievements act like glue when it comes to bonding cities and even a country’s people together.

Building Bridges – Crossing Divides

Sports events have long been recognised as bridges able to cross even the most difficult divides. A shared passion is something that brings people together, irrespective of their backgrounds or social standing in society. A love for sports is something that Canada is absolutely renowned for.

A fresh new conversation about the legalisation of a Canadian sportsbetting market was recently fired up once more; a flame that was sparked by the immense success enjoyed by a number of US states just on the other side of the border, and in most cases not even 100 miles away.

What a happy day it will be when it all comes together, and Canada is finally able to cross its own mental divide on the issue of placing legal bets on sports.
