WSOP Announces 85-Bracelets Online Series
The World Series of Poker has announced that the newly created World Series of Poker Online, which was effectively created in order to replace the cancelled 2020 WSOP in Las Vegas, will officially kick off on July 1st. What’s more, a total of 85 WSOP gold bracelets will be up for grabs, which is very near the total of gold bracelets that would have been awarded had the 2020 WSOP this year been in a position to proceed at the famous Rio. The upcoming WSOP Online championships tournament solidifies even further the WSOP’s partnership with online operator GGPoker.
The WSOP will furthermore continue to partner with Poker Central for the purposes of streaming content, highlights and even entire World Series of Poker episodes, exactly as if the series were to be presented in its original in-person live format. An additional bonus will be Poker Central interviewing all gold bracelet winners.
Summer Not A Summer Without WSOP
As for the reasoning behind the decision to move the entire deal online? No summer would be a real summer without the WSOP. This according to WSOP executive director Ty Stewart, a man known for his having a creative solution to any challenge. Stewart said that even though the World Series of Poker certainly looks forward to being in a position to ultimately reopen all of its venues, and as such remains optimistic about future live ‘offline’ events, the relationship with GGPoker and the wonderful online digital world remains a thrilling and meaningful affair.
The schedule, which as mentioned earlier on will commence this July 1st, will provide a single tournament every day of the month of July – i.e., 31 tournaments in total. Bracelet events will all begin at 3p.m. daily (ET). The majority of the tournament events about to be played all throughout next month will follow some variety of No-Limit Hold’em. Omaha will be intermittently worked into the schedule.
WSOP Leaderboard Bonus
As for players eligible to play in the upcoming WSOP Online Tournament festival, those players located in Nevada and New Jersey will be welcome to join in on July 1st. An international version of the tournament, obviously open to international GGPoker players, will commence on July 19th and will run all the way through September 6th.
The WSOP has furthermore added a special leaderboard. Points will be awarded to all players who had participated in online gold bracelet events. Some $100,000 in prize money has been allocated to the leaderboard.
