Vanessa Kade Signs With Americas Cardroom
High-profile Canadian Poker-pro Vanessa Kade is clearly determined not only to put the entire Dan Bilzerian-GGPoker debacle behind her, but to push even harder to make a difference in a profession traditionally plagued by misogyny and all-round bullying. Kade has now been signed by major Poker site Americas Cardroom (ACR), thereby following several more recent big-name signings such as Jonathan “Apestyles” Van Fleet and Chris Moneymaker.
Kade, who says even though she’s eager to put the stress of the GGPoker experience behind her, she’ll remain a firm advocate for what she believes in, has played full-time career Poker for the past seven years. She previously worked in the video games industry, during which time she worked as a games producer for Lucasfilm, BioWare, and Disney Interactive Studios, respectively.
She Hopes The Tables Are Turning
Kade during a recent appearance on The Chip Race explained that the act of calling out misogyny and other sexist offenses has traditionally hindered Poker professionals from securing deals with major sites and brands. She said that hopefully being signed by a brand the prominence and size of Americas Cardroom will help ease players’ fears of becoming un-sponsorable if standing for something in a difficult or conflict situation.
The Canadian’s bio on the US-facing Poker site refers to her as someone not afraid to hold her fellow-players accountable for the sort of actions that undermines the very spirit of the game. The bio then goes on to refer to Bilzerian, a GGPoker representative who has trouble spelling “two-letter words”.
Kade Joins A Star-Studded Team
As mentioned previously, the Canadian now joins a team that’s already signed big-name talents Chris Moneymaker and Jon Van Fleet.
When Moneymaker announced that he would be leaving PokerStars in January, rumours immediately started flying about that he had in actual fact not decided to retire and play less Poker but had instead been signed by one of the biggest Poker brands in the US. Then, on Feb. 3, he finally announced that since retirement wasn’t all it had been cracked up to be, he’d started “working again”. Americas Cardroom only a day later, on Feb. 4, confirmed that Moneymaker had been signed to #ACRTeamPro.
Van Fleet, too, is a significant signing for the prominent online Poker brand. He’s enjoyed a successful career in online Poker, having twice won Super Tuesday and Partypoker MILLION$ online. He’s also a World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner.
The ten-player team now signed as part of team ACR includes names like Michael Loncar, Ebony Kenney, Ryan DePaulo, Jeff Boski, and Jon Pardy.
