Cindy Kerslake Takes Top Honours At Deerfoot

Calgarian player Cindy Kerslake has made Poker headlines by securing her third, and second-biggest, career win. Kerslake competed in Deerfoot Inn & Casino’s Winter Super Stack tournament, southern Alberta’s premier start-of-the-year tournament, and managed to ace this year’s marquee event, namely the $1,500 NL Super Stack Main Event.

Kerslake was up against 164 other players and event-hopefuls, but made her way through all of them, all the way towards cutting a three-way deal towards the end.

Two More Players Making Headlines

Another exciting installment was the early $330 Deep Stack event, which saw Coltyn Gaetz walking away with the most of the chips. This was his third win too, and also his biggest cash prize secured to date. The magic figure was a cool $18,500 and Gaetz certainly appeared quite chuffed at having won such a handsome sum.

After the $330 Deep Stack Event, it was time for the $550 Mega Stack. Also comprising of 3 one-days, a total of 215 entries were noted. On the second day of the proceedings, it was Karim Chatur’s turn to shine. He came into Day 2 third in line, and managed to work his way all the way up towards winning the $24,500 1st prize pot.

This puts Chatur’s total career winnings at a not-too-shabby $650,000. The $550 Mega Stack event marks Chatur’s sixth career win.

Winning A Three Way Affair

The $1,500 Main Super Stack event was obviously the highlight of all the events, and Kerslake made a slow and steady approach seem like a piece of cake. By day 2 of the event, Kerslake ranked second in chips. The proceedings started to draw to a close just as soon as John Foley was eliminated, having been holding on to fourth place at the time.

Shortly after Foley’s elimination, the decision was made that a 3-way would be decided on. The deal that was ultimately cut saw Barry Middlebrook finishing up in 3rd position (worth a cool $38,584), Anthony Casten in 2nd ($29,687) and Cindy Kerslake in the top spot and with the top prize of $43,528 in hand.

The event is a highly popular installment on the annual Poker championships calendar, and the Spring Super Stack is the next tournament that will be played at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. The Spring Super Stack tournament kicks off on 24 April and will run through 28 April.
