Skrill Introduces New Cryptocurrency Service

By Ben Hamill - December 02 2019

Popular online casino and digital payments solutions provider Skrill has just rolled out its Skrill Cryptocurrency Service. The service allows players to use Bitcoin in order to purchase other forms of cryptocurrencies like Ripple or Ether. The service is essentially a cryptocurrency exchange platform and what it will mean for users is less hassle and lower transactional fees.

It used to be the case that a user will have had to go through a lengthy and costly process of first converting their Bitcoins to a flat currency of their choice (i.e. dollars, euros, etc.) and then to in turn make use of standard currencies to buy whatever alternative cryptocurrency it is that they want to invest in.

Payments That Are Reliable

Following the initial rollout, there is now a pairing service for each of the supported cryptocurrencies on the platform. Bitcoin was made available first, due to it being one of the biggest and most-used on Skrill. But the provider has said that pairing with more crypto-brands will soon be a possibility as further development of the service is already underway.

Skrill first launched its cryptocurrency service a little over a year ago, in July of 2018, having recognised the demand for alternative payment methods. At the time, an increasing number of online casinos online were adding Bitcoin to their banking methods options, and this trend has continued to grow.

The brand is part of Paysafe’s platform of specialised industry payment systems. Paysafe has a strong and proven track record of providing payment methods that are both user-friendly and completely safe, making it one of the most popular platforms in the iGaming industry today.

NETELLER To Soon Follow Suit

According to Paysafe’s CEO of Skrill, NETELLER and Income Access, namely Lorenzo Pellegrino, customers are constant looking for new and improved ways by which to “access and interact” with cryptocurrencies. Pellegrino also pointed out the obvious by saying that digital money now forms an important part of what Paysafe does and that to this end, the service provider is constantly looking for new ways in which to improve and enhance the overall cryptocurrency engagement experience for the end-user.

The world of Skrill is vast and impressive payment ecosystem. A staggering total of more than 100 deposit methods are currently supported by the digital wallet’s functionality. Moreover, customers are now able to purchase digital assets in as many as 9 different cryptocurrencies. Supported cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether and Ripple.

Word on the street is that Paysafe plans to soon roll out a similar crypto-conversion system for NETELLER. Users of the NETELLER digital wallet can look forward to the rollout happening somewhere over the course of the next couple of months.
