It certainly seems as if the lucky Brampton player who recently won the colossal CA$70 million Lotto MAX jackpot has opened the floodgates for others to rake in their own slice of the Lottery pie. It happened ahead of the January 17th draw when players; inspired by the biggest win in the history of the game; flocked in their drones to purchase tickets and get in on the action. This caused the value of the jackpot prize to skyrocket and as luck would have it, a player from in or around the vicinity of Vaughan is now eligible to claim a staggering CA$50 million, having sealed the deal on every last one of the winning numbers for that particular draw.

The OLG recently made known the information regarding the ticket in the hopes of getting players living in and around Vaughan to check their tickets and claim within the specified validity time frame of 52 weeks. The race against time has officially begun.
CA$12 Million Up Next
But the Friday-draw also offered a couple of MAXMILLION prizes totalling a sweet CA$1 million each. Unfortunately, neither of the two available prizes was qualified for on the date in question. The next draw will offer a not-to-shabby CA$12 million to the main prize winner, what with the entire Lotto MAX jackpot kitty now cleared out twice in a row.
But Lotto MAX isn’t the only star in Canada’s big-win show. Lotto 6/49 has been spreading its own healthy dose of Lotto happiness. Winners Kenneth Beatty and Mona Gibson recently had the pleasure of collecting their CA$25 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot win.
Did Not Believe Their Eyes
The Barrie-couple purchased their winning ticket from the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Essa Road and could not have asked for a better start to the new year than by discovering shortly after the draw on January 8 that they had indeed managed to bag the hefty cash prize.
The couple punched their ticket’s numbers into the OLG’s special Lottery verification app. The app allows players to check whether their tickets are winning tickets for any particular draw and takes much of the frustration generally associated with having to meticulously check and re-check one’s numbers in order to be sure.
But the moment proved to be so big for Kenneth and Mona that even after their numbers had been entered into the app and the system had revealed the colossal win, they still dared not believe that it could be true. They ended up checking their numbers on the app a total of 6 times before at long last believing it all to be true.
