Twitter Outraged By Britney Spears Doccie

The Twitter community wants former boy-bander Justin Timberlake to “pay” for the humiliation he’s caused Britney Spears. Responsible for sparking the latest outrage is a recently released documentary about the superstar singer’s career, her mental health struggles, and the fact that she’s still under some sort of conservatorship.

“Framing Britney Spears” delves deep into the pop star’s three-year-long romantic relationship with the SexyBack singer. And while their relationship came to a grinding halt as far back as the early 2000s, its clear from the documentary that Timberlake, not to mention the rest of the male musician community, would benefit from the dynamics of their troubled relationship in ways Spears could never have done.

Suffering Vs Money

A clear disparity between the way in which Spears and Timberlake reacted to the shipwrecking of the relationship can clearly be seen from the footage shown in the doccie. While Timberlake went on to make a solo career out of the push afforded to him by his 2002 “breakup” music video “Cry Me A River”, Spears was left fighting mental health demons and calling a temporary halt on her music career.

Not only did the break Spears took from the spotlight after the big breakup debunk her carefully orchestrated pop culture image, but she would undoubtedly also have suffered a massive financial blow from what would indirectly as well as directly have been Timberlake’s actions. All in all, it’s clear Spears bore the brunt of the after-effects of the break-up.

Timberlake, in the meantime, was out making bagsful of money with songs about breaking up and supposedly being cheated on – which is of course a hint at an accusation that has never actually been verified.

Jackson Deserved More

But if the social machine that is Twitter were to have its way, Timberlake may have to issue a public apology to more people than an ex who seems to bear no grudges against her former boyfriend.

Since the doccie was released in the run-up to last weekend’s Super Bowl, it stands to reason that folks would have been reminded of the incident many believe had been a massive nail in the coffin of Janet Jackson’s professional career. It had after all been during the halftime show of the 2004 Super Bowl that Timberlake had pulled off a part of Jackson’s outfit and involuntarily revealed her nipple for half a second.

The fact that this albeit brief revelation had been witnessed by 140 million viewers has been blamed for Jackson’s nosedived career ever since. Timberlake, on the other hand, was able to merely shed the entire debacle like water off a duck’s back.

It’s no surprise Twitter is offended.
