What’s Coming To Netflix In October?
October is here. This means Halloween, the final stretch before the holidays, and curling up in front of the TV to a series and a movie, or two. Which is why the good folk at Netflix appear to have gone to great lengths to bring us some of the most darling and trick-or-treat-able shows the world of television and cinema has to offer – all October long.
October 1 - 9
October 1st sees quite a few movies and documentary-style features coming our way. In “Beirut” we get to see what happens when a U.S. spy is kidnapped in warring Beirut – all of which leads to a veteran ex-diplomat and top negotiator returning to the politicly volatile city to try and arrange a high-profile prisoner swap.
But there’s more to the beginning of October than prisoners of war because we also get to dance along to the chimes of “Boogie Nights”. The movie tells the story of a rather comely busboy who in the 1970s gets roped in by a group of porn actors. We get to go along on a complete celebrity re-invention adventure.
Then, on October 6, Netflix brings us a Halloween movie with a comic twist. We get to tag along on the adventures of a terrifically greedy Captain Fishbeard as he steals everybody’s Halloween treats in “StarBeam: Halloween Hero”. Lucky for everyone else, our heroes StarBeam and Boost and a few tricks of their own they’re more than happy to play on the thieving fiend.
But if speed and fast cars and street racing is more your thing than creepy Jack ‘O Lantern grins, then be sure not to miss out on “Fast & Furious Spy Racers, Season 2: Rio” – coming to Netflix on October 9.
October 10 – October 21
Once we get to around the middle of the spookiest month of the year, it’s time to join Kipo and the gang as they embark on a special mission to defeat the evil Dr. Emilia. That’s “Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Season 3”, coming our way on October 12.
Then, on October 13, it’s time to root for the Octonauts as they look for a way to stop swarms of hungry coral-devouring starfish from ransacking a new friend’s home on the Great Barrier Reef. Catch all of this and more in “Octonauts & the Great Barrier Reef.
Fast-forward to October 21, and we get to meet some interesting humans as legendary television host David Letterman brings us a third season of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction”.
October 22 – October 30
“The Alienist: Angel of Darkness” heads our way on October 22. When Sara Howard is hired on to find the Spanish ambassador’s kidnapped baby, she calls on the help of her fiends Dr. Lazlo Kreizler, and journalist John Moore. But what they discover, is an entire series of enormously disturbing murders.
Fans of documentary series won’t want to miss October 23’s “Move”. The docuseries invites us to take a rare peek into the world of the dancers and choreographers shaping the art of dance and motion the world over.
Then, looking towards the end of the month, it’s time to pull those blankets real high as we follow the story of a retired priest who, while suffering his own personal crisis of faith, is approached by a long-time friend claiming to have a daughter possessed by the devil himself. That’s “The Day of the Lord” – October 30th.
