Play'n GO Collaborates with Candlemass
Another exciting partnership, besides the Blueprint Gaming release is the one between Candlemass, a Doom Metal band, and Play’n GO, the iGaming software developer. This has led to the recent release of a slots game called House of Doom, which features a soundtrack uniquely composed by music from this band.
For the uninitiated, Doom Metal is a subgenre of Heavy Metal that makes use of a thicker, or heavier, sound, thanks to the guitars tuned down low and the slower tempos the musicians use. Candlemass is viewed as one of this genre’s founding forces, and hails from Sweden. The band is often mentioned alongside the iconic group Black Sabbath, who are seen as the creators of this kind of music. You’ll know the Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, from either his music or the reality shows The Osbournes and Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour.
An Enjoyable Process
Play’n GO was excited about collaborating with Candlemass to create this game, as was revealed in an interview the company’s Chief Executive Officer, or CEO, Johan Törnqvist, held. In it, he explained that his organisation was looking at evolving the process far beyond merely the acquisition of intellectual property. They wanted the band to be a part of the creative process, and that’s apparently what went down!
Törnqvist explained that the development of the horror-themed slots saw Play’n GO producers working with Candlemass every step of the way. The result of this kind of focus has ensured that the House of Doom gets the feel and theme exactly right, he added, and the producers have had nothing but good things to say about the process as a whole.
A Closer Look at the Game
It must be said that the feel for House of Doom is a rather menacing one, filled with the kind of imagery we’ve all started associating with this genre, including pentagrams and other dark symbols on the reels. The background presents Candlemass playing various guitar riffs that certainly add to the whole experience, and the addition of some Special Features are sure to keep players more than happy. Play’n GO has provided Scatter Symbols that trigger Free Spins, and added the Hellgate feature. This is used to highlight the reels randomly in order to potentially use Wilds to expand and fill them. There is also a mini-game called Skulls of Abyss, in which players can pick out cash prizes.
This slot is sure to be one that will captivate many players, and it certainly proves that you can appeal to just about every genre!
