Major Games To Expect On Next-Gen Consoles

Console gaming

While we saw a splashy release of next-gen consoles rounding off last year, it remains clear that the gaming landscape is still in a phase of transition between consoles. This may be the case, but we are fast approaching the point where owners of consoles like Xbox One and PS4 will be left behind as many major games are planned only as next-gen releases.

Let’s take a closer look at some of them.

Pragmata (Xbox Series, PS5)

Based on Capcom’s head-spinning trailer, this game stars a cat and is set for release in 2022.

Starfield (Xbox Series)

Unfortunately for Xbox One, PS4 and PS5 players, this Skyrim In Space-inspired game is a no-go on their consoles.

Ghostwire: Tokyo (PS5)

Published by Bethesda, this supernatural horror-adventure has not been given a release date for Xbox Series.

Gran Turismo 7 (PS5)

At present, this game remains listed as a PS5-only title.

Fable (Xbox Series)

Fans of the Fable series will be thrilled to know it’s coming back – but only to Xbox.

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora (Xbox Series, PS5)

Ubisoft is used to releasing its content on as many platforms as possible. However, this is not the case for this game set in James Cameron’s luscious, beautiful world.

A Plague Tale: Requiem (Xbox Series, PS5)

This eye-popping follow-up to A Plague Tale: Innocence is rumoured to also be designed for the Nintendo Switch. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Everwild (Xbox Series)

Very little is actually known about this upcoming adventure game, other than the fact that it is currently in development and will only be released on Xbox.

Deathloop (PS5)

Another one from Bethesda, this uber-stylish shooter is currently planned for release only on PS5.

Redfall (Xbox Series)

This vampire game has already garnered plenty of excitement following its reveal at Microsoft’s E3 2021. However, it will only be available on Xbox.

Forspoken (PS5)

Formerly known as Project Athia, Sony has announced that this game will be exclusive to PS5 for a minimum of two years.

Shredders (Xbox Series)

Snowboarding games are making a comeback with this realistic-looking game exclusive to Xbox Series.

The Outer Worlds 2 (Xbox Series)

This game’s predecessor was released in 2019 on PS4 and Xbox One. However, its creator, Obsidian, now falls under Xbox’s umbrella and will not release this sequel on PlayStation.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl (Xbox Series)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s debut on console will not be available on older models. However, this may change at a later point.

There certainly is a smorgasbord of new games to enjoy, and while for some this may mean buying a new console, the rewards are sure to be worthwhile.
