It has been a bumpy, unpredictable road for Ontario land-based casinos. The world health crisis forced gambling venues to close their doors again on the 5th of January 2022. This came after most establishments were finally getting back to normal, having only reopened a few months prior. But thankfully, it seems as if this latest forced closure is to be short lived.
Word was that the restrictions would be lifted on the 26th of January. But this initial reopening was cancelled, with the date now being set as the 31st of January. If all goes well and no further delays occur, casinos can again get back to business come the end of January.
Despite the possibility of further disruptions, some Ontario casinos are officially announcing that they will be open for business. Gateway Casinos and Entertainment already declared that it will be opening the Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie on the 31st.

Health Protocols Will Be In Place
Ontario gamblers eager to get back to their favorite spots need to keep a few things in mind. If casinos are indeed open on the 31st, various health protocols will be in place. Anyone wanting entrance will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Proof can be given via a QR code. Face masks will also be required.
Additionally, the previously seen Plexiglas barriers will be back in use. They serve to put a barrier between guests and employees, minimizing the risk of spread. Regular sanitization and cleaning will also take place, as well as a limiting of capacity to just 50%.
Most Ontario residents are used to such safety measures by now, but it never hurts to be reminded that health is still a top priority at entertainment venues nationwide.
Niagara Venues Also Ready
Some Niagara based casinos are also ready to get back to business. Ontario residents will be able to gain access to Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino resort come the 31st. Though this is again based on no further delays occurring.
An announcement was made that both venues will be opening at precisely 12:01 a.m. on the 31st. All mentioned health protocols will be in place at both establishments.
Most interesting is that Fallsview will even be reopening its hotel branch a day earlier; the 30th of January. This means that accommodation, some table games, slots, and some dining amenities will all be open at Fallsview. The Poker tables are to remain closed for the time being.
