Comedian George Lopez Opens Casino Eatery
Authentic Mexican cooking straight from grandma’s recipe books, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, healthy food and an even healthier dose of humour. This, says comedian George Lopez, is what his brand new restaurant, Chingon Kitchen, that has just opened at the Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino in Phoenix Arizona, is all about. All rounded off by George’s pride and joy, hand-drawn Chicano art and special graffiti-style murals.
The casual style eatery opened its doors just in time for the Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and to top it all off, the man himself was also around all weekend with his trusted 1951 Chevy parked outside.
Patrons Want It Quick
The restaurant seats 140 guests and spans 5,120 square feet. Its name is derived from a culture-inspired word that in Mexican culture can mean any given number of things, including; says George; awesome, magnificent, or even a form of punctuation. Be that as it may, being called Chingon generally should be received as a compliment, meaning “you’re at the top of your game!”.
Lopez says the idea for the restaurant, which is the second to have been opened by the popular comedian and which he hopes will soon evolve into a chain of restaurants, was born following his having identified a distinct gap in the culinary market. Fast-food restaurants catering to casino patrons, says the comedian, generally don’t really lend themselves to the healthiest of menus, which is mostly the result of having to do things very quickly and on the double. But according to George Lopez, healthy Mexican family style food that will appeal to any pallet can be rustled up in all of 12 minutes.
Lopez Loves Wheel Of Fortune
Lopez doesn’t mince words about his own love of slots. It’s obvious when listening to him describe what he loves about slots as well as which titles he enjoys, that he’s happy about the eateries being perfect for venues that include casinos for more than one reason.
Wheel of Fortune says Lopez is his all-time favourite, as well as a game featuring MacGyver. Lopez says that he likes the one about MacGyver because of the hero of the game’s ability to help someone out by using a wrench.
Sounds like textbook George Lopez for sure!
