Why Great Canadian Wants To Keep It Local

The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) is fully committed towards “keeping it local” and it hopes to ramp up the initiatives connected to this level of commitment by continuing to focus on hiring local talent at Casino Woodbine.

The operator recently confirmed that a collective agreement has been entered into by selected Woodbine Casino departments and for a period of four years. The agreement will focus on employing local talent as part of the GCGC’s plan to develop the venue into a world-class entertainment hub. The corporation has said that it views the agreement as an important building block in its efforts to achieve this particular goal.

The relevant departments are represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

Community Benefits Agreement

The corporation’s commitment towards hiring local talent from the ranks of local communities in the immediate vicinity of the Casino Woodbine forms part of its Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) with the City of Toronto.

The venue is owned and operated by One Toronto Gaming (OTG). OTG is a partnership between Great Canadian Gaming Corp and an entity called Brookfield Business Partners. The collective operates all gaming facilities within the Greater Toronto area.

The partnership was granted the right to do so by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (LG) back in August of 2017.

Woodbine Gets It Right

Three separate casino facilities form part of the venues controlled by One Toronto Gaming. These are Casino Woodbine, Great Blue Heron Casino and the iconic Casino Ajax. One Toronto Gaming is currently engaged in a process of development that will see Pickering Casino Resort achieve its full potential.

The development and proper administration of casino venues in the Greater Toronto Area is vital when considering the various ways in which local communities may benefit from non-governmental business initiatives. The corporate culture subscribed to be operators will obviously make or break any given venue and this in turn, has a direct effect on the benefits enjoyed by neighbouring communities.

Not all operators are equally keen to allow the focus to shift from profits to people but the show of commitment on the part of Great Canadian certainly at least hints at the fact that people are to remain the main focus as far as Casino Woodbine is concerned.
