Club Regent Casino to Expand
Winnipeg’s premier casino, the Club Regent, is set to expand, following the successful opening of its new Event Centre. The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries commission has begun to plan even further expansion of the casino, drawing up plans for two new restaurants and a boutique hotel. The next stage of the expansion calls for 100 to 150 guest rooms in the hotel as well as up to 250 seats in two new privately-owned restaurants. The expansion is set to be built on the west side of the casino and will connect to the casino via an indoor courtyard and atrium. According to the planners, the site will be built to accommodate a Liquor Mart Express and a wide range of pop-up vendors.
Winnipeg Economic Development CEO Marina R. James stated that the planned enhancements will lend support to Winnipeg’s growing reputation as a destination city for out-of-province tourists. The development is expected to have a significant effect on economic growth, with employment opportunities for construction personnel, hospitality staff, vendors and others.
