Casino Rama’s 2019 Career Expo A Big Hit
Recent lay-offs at casino venues all across the country have put a particularly negative spin on the casino employment industry. At least 150 workers lost their jobs over the course of the summer and mainly due to operators having had to cut back on expenses due to various new projects launching in the vicinity of Ontario. New developments include the Casino Cascades North Bay, Cascades Casino Wasaga Beach and the Starlight Casino London.
But despite the negative perceptions and opinions flying about following the lay-offs and general staff restructures, the legendary Casino Rama Resort’s recent Orillia-based 2019 Career Expo opened anew the eyes of students to the hundreds of career opportunities existing in the industry today. A wide variety of local job offerings were on display and various operators displayed their own brands and personal career offerings and opportunities at the exciting event.
Casino Rama Star Of The Expo
The Casino Rama Resort was present too; and with bells on. The casino resort at any given point in time offers employment to at least 2,000 local employees. The resort offers games as well as family-friendly offerings and a variety of eateries and other forms of entertainment. It’s a big-time employer and its constantly scouting for fresh young talent to join its ever-growing corporate family.
This year’s career expo proved exceptionally successful what with a total of 40 big-name employers having pitched up on the day in order to provide practical career advice to students. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment was one of the most prominent operators present at the expo and Talent Acquisition Co-ordinator Olivia La Brie hosted a special platform talk for students interesting in learning how exactly to best go about entering the local casino and entertainment industry.
La Brie Changed The Tone
La Brie commented on the recent negative perceptions caused by the multiple lay-offs and went on to explain to students that in order to understand the economy of the situation it was vital that one dig a little deeper than that which is visible at surface level.
La Brie also introduced her young audience to a variety of current openings at prominent local locations, including at the Casino Rama Resort. She reminded prospective young employees that it wasn’t only about working in gaming, but that there were a variety of positions open and accepting applications; positions ranging from the hospitality industry to food services.
The expo went down a charm among local students and provided important and helpful information to all present.
