Cascades Casino Delta Construction Ongoing
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment’s Cascades Casino Delta in Ladner is a project a few years in the making, with actual underground construction work underway since the beginning of 2020. The CA$87 million project received approval back in the fall of 2018, but not much progress has been made since the official ground-breaking event. Construction and administrative work have however been in progress ever since.
Despite several interruptions, including a hurdle presented by the Ministry of Highways and a year that posed numerous challenges of an unprecedented nature, all of which have had an enormous impact on the actual timeline for completion, construction now continues with a focus on a revised opening date, being 2022 instead of end-2021.
No Official Opening Date Yet
Although several unofficial revisions of the anticipated opening date have been wagered by different parties, the operator has not yet issued its own timeline for the completion of the massive Ladner project. Once complete, Cascades Casino Delta will replace Delta Town & Country Inn as the new premium casino location in the region.
The new offering will include not only a casino floor consisting of 500 slot machines and 24 casino table games, but also a Match Eatery and Public House, The Buffet, and Atlas Steak + Fish. Initial plans also include a five-story premium hotel building, as well as a completely cashless gaming and overnight accommodation approach so as to promote security and personal safety.
The third party tasked with overseeing the daily operations at the venue has already been chosen, as has the company that will be in charge of the actual construction of the massive hotel building. According to Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Spokesperson Tanya Gabara, the underground foundation is now nearing completion, after which the erecting of the outside structure will commence. The first phase will be the construction of the slab that will act as the base and support of the Cascades Casino Delta and the adjacent hotel.
Better Days Ahead
Cascades Casino Delta will not only introduce locals to several new eateries, premium accommodation and gaming entertainment, but will also create many new job opportunities in the local market.
Once casinos in British Columbia have received the green light for reopening after nearly a year of province-wide closures, the operator expects to be in the financial position to speed up construction and all other pre-opening work and procedures. All casinos in B.C. have been closed since mid-March last year.
